A new brand of Karen has been spotted in the wilds of Nevada. That’s right, instead of an angry confrontation, however, it seems this type is a kind and supportive “Anti-Karen” that proves that not all Karens are built the same. Specifically, this anti-Karen was captured outside of a store “freaking out” over a couple of skateboarders attempting to nail a challenging trick. Seriously, this footage will warm your hearts.
In the 30-second clip, you can see the anti-Karen leaning against the wall of a store in sunny Nevada. In front of her is a skateboarder who is attempting to do a tre flip over some gravel and land on the car park’s tarmac about a meter and a half below. For those who skateboard, they’ll understand that this is a complex trick that involves combining a 360 pop shove-it with a kick flip, which is no small task.
Accompanying the footage is the caption, “PLOT TWIST” which speaks to the surprising reaction of the elderly lady watching on. At the beginning, she does say something that’s a little tricky to make out, but it sounds like, “This is the skateboard that I used to use.”
After three attempts that don’t go quite right, the skateboarder’s fourth attempt is a perfect landing of the demanding trick. You can hear the anti-Karen celebrate the man’s success by clapping and yelling, “Woo-hoo!“, while the caption, “SHE WAS STOKED” flashes up on the video. She gives the cool dude who landed the trick a high five, before going in for a warm embrace. She’s so happy, that she actually asks him to do the trick one more time. “No, no, no. You gotta do it one more. I wanna see if you can do it twice.”
According to some locals over on Reddit, the woman at the heart of the video used to be an avid skateboarder herself back in the day, with one Redditor writing, “This is in Nevada. She owns a place called copper cat books. She used to skate. Two to make it true, iykyk.” A second commenter championed her wholesome attitude, penning, “The Anti Karen. She seems great.” with another adding, “I want to be this lady.” Another chipped in with, “I’m so glad the older women in my life have all been like her. You see nonstop Karen’s online when in reality most older ladies are totally cool” while a fourth user exclaimed, “At first, everyone thought Karen. In the end, supportive grandma!“
As the video continues to spread online, it serves as a timely reminder that not all Karens have to be overly entitled, combative, and selfish. In fact, much like a netizen comments on the post, “We just need 22 milly more and greatness may occur.“
