This is one of the very rare cases where we see the gameplay of an unannounced videogame title that’s supposed to be released later in the year. A new Battlefield game has been behind the curtains for a long time now with EA now focusing 4 studios to work on it. And now before the official trailers come out, which is taking them too long, to be honest, a bunch of gameplay videos of the new Battlefield game are dropped onto the internet, and you can bet this game will rob away a large portion of the Call of Duty fans by release.
The story began with Battlefield introducing a new thing called the Battlefield Labs. This is where players get to sign up for the task and playtest the pre-alpha version of the new Battlefield game before its full reveal. Now, it’s great thinking by the developers and EA, and I respect that. But these occasions tend to leak, and here we are. Check it:
This is what a pre-alpha version of the new game looks like, and I have to say, it’s quite amazing. The sound, gameplay, and the destructibility of the buildings shout Battlefield in its good old times to my ears. But what other thing you’d assume from this trailer if you’re a shooter fan? Yes, the ultimate rival is probably back, and that means a lot for Call of Duty.
It’s been many years now that Call of Duty has been driving solo on its highway of presenting an arcade/mil-sim shooter, and to be honest, it has lost its identity to the bundles right now. TMNT on the field and Squid Games in the middle of the 90s with Adler? Come on. I’m not here to say that crossovers are all bad or anything, but they should match the game’s theme, right? Not every game should become Fortnite.
So when fans like me are willing to pay Activision so that they allow us to turn off some of the flashy operator skins and gun tracers in Call of Duty: Warzone for years, watching an actual military game like the new Battlefield gameplay is so refreshing. This draws our attention from miles and it’s so sad to say it’s just the tip of an iceberg.
New Battlefield Game Could Be Call of Duty’s Last Distress Call

When a hero shooter like XDefiant is called a CoD Killer, Battlefield should be called the nail in the coffin. Months ago the lead developers of Battlefield stated that they were not going to directly rival Call of Duty because Battlefield is its own game. And that’s true. This isn’t a CoD Killer, as people will still play Call of Duty for reasons like Zombies and its arcadey gameplay. The only thing that can kill Call of Duty is Call of Duty.
However, CoD is not only dealing with an identity crisis right now. Servers, cheaters, and, on top of that, the too many bugs that kill the mood for playing the game almost every single season are the main reasons people tend to switch over to a game like Marvel Rivals.
Now, if the new Battlefield game comes out with fewer issues than CoD, it’s a no-brainer that people will at least try it out for a certain amount of time. That’ll rob the momentum from Call of Duty, and if fans enjoy the new Battlefield‘s gameplay, they’re going to stay. That’s the scary part.
