it ouDoctor Who is returning in October – and the BBC wants you to know about it.

Yet another Doctor Who promo has been released, depicting Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor under a shattering glass ceiling.

The promo was posted to the Doctor Who Twitter page and can be viewed here:

After the glass ceiling shatters, the camera swirls around to the Doctor’s face. She then sounds off an awkward ‘Oops’. This is a sign that the series will continue to brandish the quirky humour Doctor Who is well-known for.

But the most valuable information the trailer gives is the series’ release date. We now know we can expect to see Doctor Who on our screens on 7th October 2018. Just a month to go, guys!

Doctor Who

The glass ceiling is a metaphor used to represent an invisible barrier that suppresses a certain demographic. It’s most famously used by feminists who feel that social hierarchies often favour men over women. Therefore, the shattering of the glass ceiling represents the emancipation of women.

No doubt the image will rub certain people the wrong way. After all, a certain subset of the Doctor Who fanbase is already convinced the female Doctor is feminist propaganda. But maybe something all of us can agree on is that the teaser is visually impressive. Hopefully, the new series will be as visually exciting as the teaser suggests.

In the meantime, if you missed the SDCC trailer from July (or just to want to watch it again for the fiftieth time), it’s right here:

As well as Jodie Whittaker, Bradley Walsh will co-star as the Doctor’s Assistant. You may recognise him from Law and Order UK and as host of The Chase. Tosin Cole and Mandip Gill will play the roles of Ryan Sinclair and Yasmin Khan respectively.

Are you looking forward to Series Eleven of Doctor Who? What’s your take on the new Doctor? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
