Attack on Titan is one of the biggest Anime series in Japan. Now Koei Tecmo is looking to re-introduce the series to Western audiences with its upcoming 2016 title.
For those who aren’t familiar with the series, Attack on Titan is based in the world where humanity has to protect themselves from large, humanoids called Titans. Humanity was left with no choice but to barricade themselves behind several, large protective walls as a way to protect themselves from Titans. Titans have a habit of eating humans in very unflattering ways. Fortunately, humanity is fighting back. The military, featuring protagonists Eren Yeager, his adopted sister Mikasa Ackerman and friend-strategist Armin Arlert, are equipped with special 3D maneuvering gear. With this gear, the military is able to move around efficiently and destroy Titans by slicing their nape.
The story sounds a little gloomy, and it is, but it’s full of action-packed fight scenes that have kept Japanese audiences entertained since the manga was launched in 2009.
Attack on Titan, the game, allows players to step in the shoes of the Survey Corps’ Special Operations. Koei Tecmo recently updated the game’s website with video footage and screenshots.

This is not the first time Attack on Titan has reached the states in the form of a video game. Developed by Spike Chunsoft, Attack on Titan: Humanity in Chains was released in North America on May 12 this year for the Nintendo 3DS. Last year, Funimation and Crunchyroll began airing an English dub of the original Anime broadcast. It also used to air on Cartoon Network’s Toonami block.
Attack on Titan is scheduled to be released sometime in 2016 for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation Vita.
