New Hampshire Tenant Cheers as Upstairs Neighbors Are Forced to Give Up Their Dogs: ‘They Must Be Gone by Aug. 10th’

It was either their sanity or the dogs

Pet owners love their pets, but that doesn’t mean the rest of the world’s populace does or should, as one New Hampshire apartment tenant has expressed. Reddit user Ok_Position3364, who says they moved into the place with their partner in May, has put their foot down about their unruly upstairs neighbors. Specifically, it’s not the young neighbors who are unruly; it’s allegedly their three large dogs that they can’t seem to handle properly. Come August, that’s about to change: when they’re forced to remove them from the apartment.

In Ok Position’s post on r/Apartmentliving, they claim to have achieved a “Massive win.” The dogs upstairs are incredibly reactive, meaning they’re not properly trained and will jump around, bark, and rampage about at anything that tickles their interest. If the noise isn’t bad enough, OP says a urine smell plagues the laundry room, the dogs’ fecal stench permeates the exterior of the apartment, and the pit bull mixes are allegedly not friendly to the couple downstairs.

Complaint after complaint, management couldn’t get these upstairs neighbors to cooperate, until now. “We submitted a detailed log and flash drive with dozens of videos demonstrating the noise in the middle of the night,” Ok Position wrote. Now, after weeks of back-and-forth with the apartment’s management, the dogs will have to be relocated.

In the chat’s screenshot OP shared, “The dogs must be gone by 8/10/2026,” and it’s not up for debate. The New Hampshire tenant is thrilled and expressed their excitement with the rest of Reddit: “[This is a] Massive win. It is possible, renters. Advocate for yourselves.”

One of the post’s top commenters shared his own success story with having a neglectful pet owner move out following a report. However, it wasn’t without effort on their part, as they recommend others to do: “Definitely document, people!” Others warn OP about what’s to come, considering the upstairs tenants won’t be too pleased with their dogs essentially being evicted. “You should probably install a Ring camera if you haven’t already. Get ready for retaliation,” wrote a Redditor.

“I don’t know how dog owners like that can live under the impression that they can subject other people to those kinds of harassments by their animals,” remarked another user. “I feel bad for the dogs tho not the owners they could have gotten bark collars and cleaned up after them people are just stupid!” exclaimed a third.

On that angle, Ok Position said they also feel bad for the dogs despite this victory. “I too, feel terrible for the animals. I feel a sense of guilt, but we haven’t slept through the night in months.” Living miserably at the expense of others wasn’t on their list, as they bluntly put it. “The dogs are kept in crates most of the day. We hear them whining, crying, digging in crates,” they added.

At the end of the day, many people share the belief that humans should come before animals, especially pets that are rarely trained to live with others. And now, funnily enough, as their username suggests, Ok Position is now in an “okay position” to live in peace with their partner, come August 10th.
