When a New Jersey storeowner opens up her nail shop for the day, she’s surprised by who she sees. A woman who stole thousands of dollars’ worth of merchandise for her sent her mom to apologize on her behalf. But things didn’t go the way the mom likely expected.
Zanah (@zaneyynailstiktok) says a woman stole $1,300 in merchandise from her nail shop. Then, her mom showed up at the shop on her behalf. After discovering who the mother is, Zanah immediately tells her that she has an upcoming appointment with a detective handling the case.
Zanah explains to the mom that if she gets the money in cash, she won’t “press charges” against her. Her mom immediately asks if she has proof of the stolen items, to which Zanah laughs and says she has tons of evidence.
Zanah said bluntly, “She wasn’t slick about it. There’s a lot of proof, and her on camera.” The mother immediately starts arguing with Zanah about the incident, but she clearly isn’t having any of it. At this point, the woman who stole the merchandise is standing with her mom, and they start speaking to each other back and forth.
The thief starts crying, and Zanah makes a phone call, presumably to the police. They close the door and attempt to leave, but Zanah calls after them, “I want you to stay!” Zanah says it’s clear that the woman thought that she was “gonna accept an apology that wasn’t cash.”
Online Users Were Shocked With How Irresponsible the Thief’s Mother Was
Commenters reacted to the video after its posting, shocked by the interaction. As one commenter pointed out about the mother’s attitude: “Her asking if you have proof made my skin crawl.” Another commenter stated, “Should mention that any theft exceeding $1,000 is a felonious offense.”
Other commenters were blown away by how the mom and daughter duo decided to handle the entire situation. One commenter quipped, “The tears at the end! I’m dying.” Another mentioned, “Her mom peeped, she said ‘let’s go she’s calling the cops.’” Zanah hasn’t yet updated on the matter but it’s clear that things are being handled from a legal standpoint. Commenters continue to share their reactions and opinions as the video goes viral.
