It’s that time of the year when goofy gets married to scary, especially when it comes to decorations, but for one man’s home in Jackson, New Jersey, Halloween is political. His ICE skeleton agents, Kristi Noem effigy, and even a grim diorama of “Alligator Alcatraz,” showing imprisoned Mexicans, are his flavor of Halloween decoration. However, the man’s Halloween decorations have attracted outrage, and one neighbor can’t help but be angry.
In a video, originally uploaded to TikTok by Kelly Ann B, she can be seen driving by a man’s house, recording his Halloween decorations, which include a recreation of Alligator Alcatraz, complete with Mexican mannequins, skeletal ICE agents, and even signboards from the previous 2024 presidential election.
Kelly Ann B has thus expressed her vexation to her neighbor, even asking, “Are you a cop?” to the man who was hanging around in his house’s front yard. It appears the man, however, was unfazed, leading Kelly Ann B to further criticize him, labelling his Halloween decorations as, “This is literally psycho!”
It appears Kelly Ann B isn’t the only neighbor who was disturbed by this divisive sight. Another neighbor who went by the name of “Jo” claims the theme of the decorations was “distasteful.” Meanwhile, the homeowner himself, nicknamed Joe, claims that it’s his personal expression and his right to freedom of speech.
“Unfortunately, I have to worry about what people are trying to do to us now. We’re having fun with it, and if people don’t like it, oh well… They’ve been trying to take it down. I got people calling every day trying to take our stuff down,” says homeowner Joe, transcript courtesy of News12.
People Online Are Divided
For safety, Joe has apparently set up cameras all around his property to ensure that no one takes down the Halloween decorations or does something he doesn’t want. On one hand, some people are praising his political expression and him being “funny,” with comments saying “Dude has a great sense of humor and awesome decorations. This lady is a Karen and her screeching voice is insufferable,” particularly on Instagram.
Others are defending Joe and what he does to his property, “Not only is it legal. Itโs funny AF!” On the other hand, people online who live in New Jersey didn’t seem to like it and have dubbed Joe an attention seeker, with comments saying, “Imagine being so starved for attention that you’d spend time and money putting this together?”
“If politics has seeped into every part of your life that everything has become politics; go on a [expletive] vacation because you have lost your [expletive] mind,” according to another Reddit comment. On Kelly Ann B’s post, it appears people were also torn, with many mocking her reaction while others are praising her.
