When we last left the Legends of Tomorrow in the season 2 finale, a time had been severely damaged by the team’s efforts to thwart the Legion of Doom and prevent them from gaining full access to the powers of the spear of destiny. The team was back in 2017, but chronal hell had seemingly broken loose with dinosaurs roaming through futuristic buildings and scattered click towers.
In new photos released by the CW of the DC’s Legends of Tomorrow season 3 premiere “Aruba-Con,” two members of the team can be seen confronting what appears to be an armed Roman Caesar in the midst of a very modern-looking beach toga party. Given Mick Rory’s Hawaiian shirt and flip-flops, clearly, this will be an unexpected conflict.
Other photos released hint at the state of the world post-time damage with the team giving each other intense glances in what appears to be a very modern eatery. A very professional-looking Rip is also seen speaking with Sara in front of monitors that appear to be tracking things on maps. Maybe Rip is in charge of a team tracking modern-day time problems? We’ll have to tune in to find out.
DC’s Legends of Tomorrow’s third season will return on Tuesday, October 10th and will star Arthur Darvill as time master Rip Hunter, Dominic Purcell as the fiery Mick Rory, Caity Lotz as assassin Sara Lance, Brandon Routh as size-altering inventor Ray Palmer, Nick Zano as metallic archaeologist Nick Heywood, and Victor Garber as the mind and Franz Drameh as the body of Firestorm the Nuclear Man.
The upcoming season will also see the introduction of Courtney Ford as Eleanor, the daughter of Arrow and Legends villain Damian Darhk. According to Entertainment Weekly, she will have powers like her father and have a romantic arc with her real-world husband Brandon Routh’s character Ray Palmer. She’s slated to be introduced in the fifth episode of the new season.
