You will, of course, journey to hone your skills as a Pokémon Trainer, but many more discoveries and stories await you. Meet a variety of people and Pokémon, and adventure in the world of Pokémon the way you want to.”
Some of the brand new characters revealed include Professor Sada and Professor Turo, the first dual professors in a Pokémon game that will appear in the game depending on which version the player chooses. In Pokémon Scarlet, players will meet Professor Sada, and in Pokémon Violet, players will meet Professor Turo, each carrying out research into lore passed down in the region. Nemona is another new character and is described as having a sunny, energetic disposition and is an experienced Trainer who is very passionate about Pokémon battles and will serve as a friend and reliable guide for players in the story.
In addition to series staples like trading and battling, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet will be the first open-world RPGs in the Pokémon series and allow the player to freely explore the various locations of the region in these games with up to four other players in one game.
There was also a slew of new Pokémon revealed in the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet trailer, including the new Legendary Pokémon appearing in these titles, Koraidon and Miraidon. The title logos are embellished with foil stamp-like designs that use these Legendary Pokémon as motifs. Not much else is revealed about them other than that they are said to have powers that far surpass those of other Pokémon.
The trailer also revealed a better look at the in-game models for the starters Pokémon, Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly, as well as some brand new Pokémon. These include Pawni, a new Electric-type that generates electricity by rubbing its cheeks, then shocks its opponents by touching them with the pads on its forepaws; Lechonk, a pig-like Pokémon that Lechonk uses its sense of smell to find and eat wild grasses and the richest Berries; and Smoliv, a seed-like Pokémon that shoot out oil from its head when startled or attacked.
