This month’s CoroCoro has arrived, and it carries with it a very small amount of new Pokemon content. First up, the evolution of Rockruff. The stony puppy evolves into Lugarugan, its Japanese name, based on the day and night cycle. This splits it into one of two forms: “hot as day” or “cool as the night.”

Left: day evolution. Right: night evolution.

The typing for the evolved forms was not revealed. While the hot and cool captions would seem to indicate fire and ice, neither form has any properties reflecting such elements. Also remember that Pokemon Sun and Moon are set twelve hours apart, making it easier or harder to obtain a certain form depending on which game is played.

UPDATE: It was later revealed that the evolutions are version exclusives. Each form also gets different moves.

The true meat of the reveal, however, is in the two newest Ultra Beasts that found their way into CoroCoro’s pages. UB01 was unveiled previously and looked like a phantom jellyfish. The next beasts are called UB02 Expansion and UB02 Beauty. Their matching numbers may indicate that they are actually the same entity, albeit in different forms.

The tall white one on the far left is the Beauty form, while the muscular red one is Expansion.

Both UB02 beasts resemble bugs. But there’s a certain other resemblance that raises plenty of questions, and most likely a volume of theories to go with them. The below image might be an unintentional spoiler for the plot of Pokemon Sun and Moon. If you do not wish to have your mind jump to conclusions, please cover your eyes while scrolling down.

I shudder to think...

So in this Pokemon reveal, we’ve received a werewolf and an uncanny plot suggestion. But none of these images compare to the nightmare that awaits just below this paragraph. Warning: The Nerd Stash is not responsible for what might happen to you if you view it. You have been warned.

"Can I stop now? This is really embarrassing."
“Can I stop now? This is really embarrassing.”

That was an ad for the next season of the anime, by the way.

That’s all for this month’s CoroCoro. Check back every day for more exciting, hilarious and sometimes horrific game coverage!
