Listed as the CUH-1215A and the CUH-1215B the first most notable difference between models is the hard disk drive, the CUH-1215A is sticking with the normal 500gb standard we have come to expect where as the the CUH-1215B is boasting the bigger 1 terabyte hard disk drive.
The second notable difference is in the power source, The new models power unit generates 230W, while the old power unit generates 250 watts. The amperage has also changed from 2.5-1.15A to 2.3-0.95A.
The last difference between the CUH-11XXX (The standard PlayStation 4 model) and the new CUH-12XXX model is the weight difference, the original model weighing a hefty 2.8kg the new lighter model only weighs in at 2.5kg, whats lead to this 0.3kg weight difference is unclear but with E3 less than two weeks away hopefully they will shed some light on the matter.
The PlayStation 4 is currently running away in the next generation race against Xbox One, certainly the more slicker designed unit of the two, but does Microsoft have a trick up their sleeve that’s been hidden a lot better than Sony?
E3 holds all the secrets and answers so lets see if they come out with a smaller unit and better redesign. First it was the price cut, then the Kinectless bundle. Their marketing campaign has kicked into overdrive with the likes of Halo, now only months away, and sales on the up as of last month. Has this refocused and aggressive scheme come to save the day? Only time will tell who is truly the champion of next gen.
Are you ready for redesigned units? Is the terabyte hard drive enough to get you re buying only two years into this generation of console?
Do you think Microsoft will respond with a counter attack and a redesigned unit?
Only time and E3 hold the answers.
