The new Spider-Man merch reveals new plot devices. Spider-Man No Way Home and details within have remained on lockdown; a few key details have managed to slip out. Things such as Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus and Jamie Foxx’s Electro, have been unintentionally leaked. Fans have speculated a reunion of all three live-action Spider-Man’s within the film as well. Meaning a return of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. While keeping the content of the film under wraps, Marvel has managed to forget one key component…toys. Many fans have been aware that merch can provide a bit of insight into what to expect. The Spider-Man plot thickens thanks to Lego and Funko Pop.
Spider-Man Merch Reveals Much
Yesterday, fans speculated on the new Spider-Man merch. Especially the new “integrated suit” that was seen in various toys set to hit store shelves. Today many are now trying to piece together the plot devices that lay therein. The toys have managed to give fans a gleaming idea of what is to come. The studio has been quiet, but, come on, we know that this iteration will involve some travel through the multiverse. We also are aware of Doctor Strange’s involvement in the film. Now we know more due to the merch.
Due to more of the merch that released today a couple of ideas come to mind. First, based on a new Lego set, it looks like Doctor Strange might serve as a mentor and Peter Parker’s guide through the multiverse. It only makes sense. Will there be any character growth for Peter’s passed mentorship? That remains to be seen. Another giveaway? A Funko Pop toy shows the new Spidey suit with an apparent arc reactor-like Tao Mandela in the center. This again leads us to believe, that Doctor Strange is the new mentor to Spider-Man. And Peter is probably going to have a combo of Iron Man and Doctor Strange enhancements, most likely in the final fight of the film.
A Potential Plot Reveals Itself
Given all of this information of the past few days, and knowing Marvel’s knack for following the hero’s journey to a T, it’s quite easy to figure out the overall plot. Doctor Strange serves as Peter’s guide through the multiverse. Actually, it almost sounds inspired by Dante Alighieri’s Inferno. With Doctor Strange playing the role of Virgil and Peter Parker in the role of Dante. While in the multiverse, the two will most likely encounter past Spider-Mans and villains as they journey trying to get Peter Parker out of there. The ultimate villain and puppet master of this installation still remain uncertain. It could be as simple as Norman Osborn. Or maybe we are overlooking Doc Oc. In one iteration following the events of Secret Invasion, Osborn becomes head of SHIELD, which is an intriguing possibility. If filmmakers wanted to go bigger and expand upon the Marvel universe they could bring in Kang the Conqueror…which they have. Jonathan Majors will be playing him in the new Ant-Man film.
The question with Kang is, whether or not he shall play a bigger role in the MCU. Of course, he will. He is too big of a character not to. This leads us to question many things. One thing that is certain is like any mentor in the hero’s journey, Doctor Strange might bite the dust, or almost bite the dust. It’s a character development thing. If it is neither of those he might simply leave. But come on now, that would be too easy, right? The villain, however, will be major. Why? The new suit! The arc reactor and Tao Mandela enhancements are basically combining tech with magic. Meaning, this is not going to be a simple villain final encounter.
The Spider-Man plot and villain still may elude us. Whoever and whatever they are, it is going to be big. Thanks to Spider-Man merch reveals, we have an idea. An idea that this film shall be entertaining, to say the least.
