Star Ocean 5: Integrity and Faithlessness was a surprise announcement from Square Enix back in June. Currently, Star Ocean 5 is playable at Tokyo Game Show and was announced that it would be releasing in February in Japan. Previously, Star Ocean 5 was announced for both PlayStation 3 and PlayStation4, but today only PS4 was mentioned. Judging from this information, it is highly probable that the US release will be a PS4 exclusive, at the very least.

The game looks visually appealing, judging from the above videos. The combat system of Star Ocean 5 looks very similar to the fast paced system of the previous entry, Star Ocean The Last Hope, utilizing a real time system. One of the big points for combat this time around though is that the action never breaks, so instead of entering a battle by touching an enemy you just fight them right on the field.

The game is being developed by Tri-Ace. It’s set on an uncivilized planet called Fakelead, 6,000 light years away from Earth. It has a Japanese release date announced of February 25, 2016. Unfortunately, there is still no word on if the game will be launching at the same time in the US and Europe, although a localization has been confirmed. Stay tuned for details!

I believe that games are an important form of entertainment, and that they can uplift and inspire millions of people around the world. I love JRPGs, and dabble in many other genres, especially MOBAs.
