“Alright, kiddos…” the Telltale blog greets us, as if stepping into character. With good reason: “today we can finally share these screenshots from Tales from the Borderlands Episode 3 – ‘Catch a Ride’!”
This is why we love Telltale. Or, just part of it. Because they’re so sassy when they’re excited about something. And it comes out in their work. Against other Telltale games like The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones, each of which follow the subdued color palettes of their parent comic book and television roots, Borderlands hails from the vivid, infectious, eclectic space-western future of the Borderlands game series. (It’s a lot of adjectives, I know, but Borderlands is a hell of a lot of things, isn’t it?)
The Telltale blog (to rile us up!) tells us (and it’s too good to summarize):
“After a dizzying escape from a very-near-almost-certain-death scenario (involving statuesque buttocks), Rhys and Fiona find themselves looking for another piece of the puzzle that will lead them to the untold riches of Vault key ownership. Lost in the mysterious jungle of an Atlas terraforming facility, Fiona finds help from an unexpected mentor, Rhys continues to share brain-space with the disembodied mind of a dead dictator, and love is in the air. Pursued by the ruthless criminal ‘Queenpin’ Vallory, and with very little help from Vaughn’s accountancy skills (or stellar abs), getting anywhere near the Vault will be entirely up to you.”
While all those crazy memories from episode 2 (Vaughan’s stellar, awkward abs, indeed) come flooding back, it can’t be clearer that further blood-pounding brilliance is in store for episode 3. Its expected to be available June 23 on PC via the Telltale Online Store and Steam, among other digital distribution outlets. Or, if you’re a console guru, you can nab it on PlayStation 4,
The next death race is about to start. Time to snatch and crack open the Hyperion mystery box again. Will you be there, clad in your Psycho Mask? (You’ll only be psycho if you aren’t.)
