Team Deathmatch is a classic game mode that is seemingly in everything except Valorant. Well, until now, that is. The mode has announced itself with a new trailer, and it looks fantastic. This comes as a part of its Episode 7 Act 1 update that will pit two teams against one another to reach 100 kills. The update also includes three new maps. It will arrive in Patch 7.0 on June 27.
In any shooter from Call of Duty to Halo, team deathmatch is straightforward, but in Valorant, it gets a few twists. Beyond killing to boost your team’s score, you have a whole belt of utility to work with, too. The nearly ten-minute matches run across four stages. During the pre-match, you will select your loadout and can update it before you respawn. When a new stage loads up, your loadout gets an upgrade. This will deliver a balance to ensure nobody has the most powerful guns all match while making sure nobody falls behind on upgrades as the match progresses. The three maps will have weapon spawners that scale with the stage evolutions.
Valorant Adds Team Deathmatch and a New Trailer to Introduce it
The usual playstyle of Valorant will get shaken up in this game mode. Abilities will no longer be available to be purchased. Instead, they’re automatically available and then go on cooldown after use. Ultimates work in more or less the same way, acquired by picking up orbs and/or scoring kills. Similar to in other game modes, Ultimate orbs and weapons are not the only pickups found throughout the maps. Recovery orbs will heal you and give you a shield. It provides a way to let you survive multiple fights and get kill streaks, rather than dying too quickly and losing out on momentum in the match.
June 27 will see how team deathmatch can rival the traditional Valorant experience. It will likely not become the dominant mode, but it will deliver a new taste to the formula.
