Although New World‘s launch yesterday can be qualified as none other than a resounding success for Amazon Game Studios thanks to a ludicrously high peak of 707,230 concurrent players, excessively long queues have defined the first hours with the MMO for many players. But, Amazon is rolling out a stop-gap solution to hopefully ease queue times and get players into the game proper: New World free server transfers.
The idea is to tempt players with their hearts set on the busiest servers to settle into less populated alternatives temporarily. As Amazon fires up extra servers, expands the capacity of existing ones, and the initial launch hype fizzles out a tad, players can then hop to their forever server later on. As the burgeoning game developer noted in a blog post laying out what it’s doing to address the queuing issue, boosting the player-per-server count and additional servers are contingent on testing that these measures don’t brick New World entirely.
New World Free Server Transfers
Our sole focus right now is to get everyone logging in and playing quickly. To ensure everyone can find an open world now, while also finding a home in Aeternum with their community long-term, we’ll offer an opportunity in the next two weeks for all players to relocate their characters to a new server of their choice at no cost. We appreciate your patience as the New World community grows and encourage you to solidify your long-term server plans for you and your Company.”
Amazon stopped short of detailing precisely how the free server transfer offer will play out. For example, whether there are limitations to keep in mind which could potentially slim down your choice of servers should you decide to make the jump within the two-week time window.
Amazon Game Studios’ New World MMO is out now for PC.
