An Instacart shopper in Long Island, New York, had to undergo an awkward and nonsensical argument with a Karen who refused to provide her ID for a scan, given that her order included alcohol.
This story and the accompanying clips were shared by TikToker Max Kanner. He, an Instacart shopper, told how he delivered a $600 order to the woman who lived in a rich Long Island neighborhood in New York. Everything was going just fine until Max did the unthinkable. He asked her for an ID scan as she had ordered alcohol.
The Karen, of course, was outraged. Despite her claiming she had entered her birthday on the app, Max still needed to scan her ID. However, the woman refused, saying, “I’m not letting you scan my ID. I don’t know what you’re gonna do with my information.”
Then, Max explained that, should she refuse to provide an ID, Instacart will refund her order and make him return all of her purchased items to the store. This, however, enraged the Karen even more, telling that Max was doing a very bad job and that she was obviously overaged. The shopper, however, still needed the ID, as it is required to deliver an order of that nature.
As the Karen was not going to provide her ID, Max decided to take the bags. He was determined to deliver them back to the store, as instructed. The woman, however, grabbed the bags in an attempt to prevent him from doing so, according to the New York TikToker. Footage is then shared, showing the argument between the two.
Police Called, Order Refunded, Reactions
After the Karen threatened to call the police, Max ended up calling them himself. In a follow-up clip, he explained the whole situation to the officer. He, according to the Instacart shopper, didn’t know what Instacart was. However, the officer ended up agreeing with Max, not before the latter called the lady a Karen. This, of course, triggered her even more.
As expected, people blasted the Karen for her ID meltdown, pointing out her attitude and contradictions.
“She doesn’t want a random person to have her ID, but she gave a random person her address mind you,” one user wrote. A second one said, “All this over some Coors light.” A third one added, “Long Island Karens are a different breed lol.“
At least this won’t happen to other Instacart shoppers again. According to Max, the woman’s account was flagged.
