New York Rap Queen Nicki Minaj, 43, Hits Barbz With $10 Monthly Charge for Exclusive X Posts Amid $275K Lawsuit: ‘What Happened to Billionaire Barbie?’

Billionaire Who?

In New York, Nicki Minaj built the Barbz into one of music’s most fiercely loyal fan armies. Now, the 43-year-old rapper is asking those supporters to pay $10 every month for a deeper look inside her famously unfiltered world.

Minaj announced over the weekend that fans can subscribe directly to her X account for exclusive posts unavailable to ordinary followers.

“You can now subscribe to my X account,” she wrote.

I finally did it.

You can now subscribe to my X account.

It’s for ppl who wanna have fun, think deeper, grow, learn, laugh, cry, cuss ppl out, look cute sometimes, be yourself at all times…
elevate, levitate, meditate.

The Pink Friday rapper promised subscribers far more than polished celebrity updates. Minaj described the paid space as somewhere fans could “have fun, think deeper, grow, learn, laugh, cry” and occasionally watch her “cuss ppl out.”

She also encouraged the Barbz to “elevate, levitate, meditate” while remaining unapologetically themselves.

The monthly charge immediately divided X. Some supporters treated the subscription like admission into Minaj’s private kingdom, posting celebratory memes and announcing that they were ready to pay.

“Can’t wait for all the exclusive content,” one fan declared.

Others questioned why one of hip-hop’s wealthiest and most successful stars needed another recurring payment from ordinary followers.

“What happened to billionaire Barbie?” one critic asked. “Why are we begging for subscriptions on Twitter?”

Nicki Minaj’s $10 Paywall Divides the Barbz

The debate quickly turned into a full Nicki Minaj spectacle, with fans flooding X with reaction clips, jokes and references to the rapper’s famously chaotic online personality.

Some argued that $10 was a small price for dedicated supporters who already follow Minaj’s every move. Others accused the rapper of charging fans for material she once shared publicly and questioned whether the subscription would deliver enough exclusive content to justify the cost.

The timing attracted additional attention because Minaj is currently fighting a lawsuit involving approximately $275,000 in allegedly unpaid concert-production expenses.

24/7 Productions claims it advanced roughly $255,000 and provided services connected to Minaj’s 2023 Jingle Ball appearance and the launch of Pink Friday 2. The company alleges that additional costs pushed the amount owed to approximately $275,000.

Minaj disputes that she is personally responsible. Her legal team argues that the alleged agreement involved Pink Friday Productions LLC rather than Minaj as an individual, and she is seeking dismissal from the case along with repayment of her legal expenses.

Nothing currently establishes that the subscription launch is connected to the lawsuit. Still, placing a $10 price on her X posts during an expensive court battle gave critics an irresistible opening.

Minaj promised subscribers laughter, reflection and the occasional public takedown. Everyone else will have to watch the Barbz enjoy the chaos from outside the paywall.
