The New York Videogame Critics Circle (NYVGCC) has announced the nominees for the 2022 New York Videogame Awards. The NYVGCC is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that promotes the awareness of video games, writing, and journalism in the New York City area.
In addition to revealing the nominees, the NYVGCC also said the event will now be held virtually. It was originally planned as an in-person event but is going online again for health and safety reasons.
Harold Goldberg, president and founder of the NYVGCC, had this to say:
We really wanted to present our fans with a live show this year. However, for health and safety reasons, we are offering a virtual only show again in 2022. We are still absolutely thrilled about having the honor of acknowledging all the incredible work from developers and journalists in 2021. In addition to the list of nominees, we’re still hopeful that many will buy tickets to support our ongoing mission to provide awareness and mentorship for the video game industry, especially among underserved communities.
The New York Videogame Critics Circle will contact ticket holders about refunds for the previously planned in-person show. While tickets are no longer on sale, interested supporters can donate to the NYVGCC. Donations will help fund ongoing programs for 2022. For more information on their programs, as well as the New York Videogame Awards, please check out the organization’s website.
