New York Woman Shares Sad ‘Reality’ of Being a Woman as She’s Blatantly Followed by Eerie Man: ‘I’m Afraid for You’

In broad daylight

With the rise of social media, the internet has become a place where getting a message out to people is as easy as ever. However, that was exactly this New York woman’s goal while recording a creepy man following her to work. In a TikTok video posted to the account @Ttayyyylorr, the woman can be seen recording and giving a play-by-play as some random creep follows close behind. The video has since officially gone viral, with 382K views and 18K likes.

The sick reality. Walking to work with our heads on a swivel is exhausting. I ended up double crossing the street and he followed there and back both times until i got to my destination where he waited outside the building for 5 minutes (according to the man behind the desk) #fyp #nyc #newyorkcity

The TikTok video starts with the woman walking down the New York streets with her phone out, already recording. The text on the video reads “The reality of being a woman in NYC” as she speaks about her encounter. The woman claimed that she had already completely stopped once she noticed the man. However, surely enough, after she stopped walking, so did he. After she would begin walking once again, like clockwork, the man would pick up his pace to stay just close enough behind the woman. This was setting off alarms in the TikTok’s comment section. “I’m afraid for you,” wrote one user.

The woman in the TikTok then pans her phone over so the internet can get a great look at the man following her. The creepy guy seemingly attempts to make himself look inconspicuous when he notices the woman’s camera pointed right at him. However, it is almost impossible, as he literally waits for the woman to move before he moves again. The woman then decides to stop again to let the man pass. Although this time, she would flip her camera around to record him as he walked by. The man looked visibly shaken by this, as he did a strange little skip-like movement around the woman.

Despite stopping to wait for him to pass by yet again, the man seems to have no interest in leaving. The New York woman would then cross the street, as the man would seem frustrated. However, the video ends kind of abruptly as the woman wants to see if he will follow her across the street. However, the TikTok’s caption states that the man would follow her to work before finally calling it quits.

It is unknown why the man was following the New York woman, or why the TikTok ended so quickly. However, encounters like these have become all too common for most women across the globe. However, while safety is the utmost priority in any situation, bringing light to this kind of behavior is arguably just as important. Hopefully, this woman will never be in such a terrifying situation like this ever again.
