Losing your phone in the ocean usually means saying goodbye forever. One New York woman, however, got an ending straight out of a tech commercial after her iPhone spent more than two hours at the bottom of the Atlantic and somehow kept recording the entire time.

The video of the incident has gained significant traction on TikTok, reaching millions of views and thousands of comments. It spread widely as users reacted to both the dramatic recovery and the unusual detail that the phone remained functional after being submerged for such a long period.

In the video, the New York woman is seen emotional as she watches the diver surface with her phone after it was lost in the ocean. When she later checks the device, she discovers it is still partially working and had recorded footage while underwater. The clip has been widely shared due to the surprising nature of the recovery and the footage it allegedly captured.

The New York woman explained that the incident happened while she was filming with a new phone placed on a tripod near the water. She said her partner had initially warned her that the setup might be risky due to strong wind conditions. However, the wind reportedly knocked the tripod over, causing the phone to fall into the ocean. Her partner quickly arranged for a diver to search for and recover the device from the seafloor.

New York iPhone Underwater Video Sparks Internet Reaction

TikTok users reacted with humor and strong curiosity about the recovered phone and the fact that it allegedly recorded underwater footage for hours. A large number of comments focused on wanting to see the video itself, with repeated requests and calls for the footage to be posted, showing that interest was centered more on what the phone captured than the recovery process.

Many users also joked about the phone’s durability and storage capacity, with some saying the New York woman must have “a lot of storage” and others making playful references to “Titanic ghosts” reacting to the device. Others expressed surprise at how the phone survived, noting they would have immediately replaced it but still found the situation impressive.

There were also light tech jokes comparing Apple and Android users, including remarks suggesting Android users had been “outdone” by the phone’s survival, highlighting the moment as a win for iPhone users. One user wrote, “This is more than an advertisement for iPhone.”

Some viewers expressed relief that the phone was successfully recovered while still asking to see the underwater footage. A few also pointed out how unusual it is for a phone to remain recording while submerged for hours, adding to the fascination around the story. Overall, reactions were dominated by curiosity, humor, and repeated demands to see the recovered footage.

The New York woman’s video continues to circulate widely as viewers wait to see whether the underwater recording will be shared publicly.
