One girl dad is sticking up for the Swifties by taking an interest in the NFL. A TikTok user who goes by John R. posted a video addressing grown men who are upset with the league. Moreover, many have taken to social media to object to the number of times a camera pans to Taylor Swift when she attends a game.
Some of these men, dads themselves, go so far as to say that it’s annoying that more women are watching NFL games because of Taylor Swift’s new ties to football through her relationship with Travis Kelce. Sour viewers aside, Taylor is being praised by many for bringing in new female fans.
John Urged Other Dads to Get Over It
John addressed the many detractors. He began his video offering “a word of advice for all the dads out there, especially all the girl dads and the dads of teenage girls.”
“This whole thing with Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift. You need to embrace it. You really do. Stop fighting it. Stop being a jerk about it. Stop saying that she’s a distraction. All of that. Embrace it.”

“It’s gonna be good for your relationship with your daughter,” John continued. He continues to explain his own experience with his teen daughter. Though she was previously uninterested in football, she had fun going to a playoff game with him over the weekend.
This past Monday, I went to a playoff game in single-degree weather, sitting on a pile of snow with our feet in ice. Our toes were red when we left, but I had the time of my life with my teenage daughter at a football game. Do you think that happens without Taylor Swift? You need to embrace it. Do it.”

Over 250,000 views are reported on the video as TikTokers praise this dad’s openness and consideration for his daughter.
Taylor Herself Has Addressed the Attitude Around Her Appearance at Games
Taylor Swift — Time’s 2023 Person of the Year and new to being an NFL athlete’s girlfriend — maintains she’s not looking for attention at the games and can’t help what networks choose to show. In her interview with the outlet in December, she talked about the reaction.
“There’s a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you don’t know where it is,” Taylor first pointed out. She then explained she didn’t know and wasn’t paying attention to that during the game.
“You have no idea when the camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don’t know if I’m being shown 17 times or once. I’m just there to support Travis.”

Taylor then added, “I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads.”
