Josh Allen was named the NFL’s 2025 Most Valuable Player, to some fans’ dismay, on Thursday, February 6. The Buffalo Bills player was honored by his peers, rival teams, and his fiancée, Hailee Steinfeld. FOX Sports NFL shared the moment the quarterback won the award on X, revealing he had a mini celebration.
Before hitting the stage, Allen shared sweet kisses and warm embraces with his doting fiancée. He also paid tribute to the Hawkeye star in his acceptance speech, hailing her positive contributions to his life. “You’ve been my rock. You’re my best friend. I would not be standing on the stage if it weren’t for you,” the athlete raved.
Additionally, Allen paid tribute to his fellow nominees, including Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson. His dedication to the latter was important, as some believed he should have been the MVP. One of Jackson’s supporters, former NFL star Shannon Sharpe, addressed Allen’s victory on his Nightcap podcast. He called the results shocking, given Jackson’s place on the NFL All-Pro Team.
Allen was not selected, making him the third athlete to win MVP after failing to make first-team All-Pro. Sharpe expressed confusion over the situation to his co-host Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson, per Talksport, telling him:
“I’m shocked. I’m trying to wrap my mind around it because here’s the thing, guys. These are the same 50 men and women that voted for the All-Pro team. So how do you not vote Josh Allen the first-team All-Pro quarterback, but you vote him MVP? It makes no sense.”
NFL Fans Believe Josh Allen Does Not Deserve the MVP Award
Sharpe’s co-host Johnson echoed similar sentiments about the MVP results, suspecting the league “handed” Allen the award. NFL fans shared the same argument on X, with someone lamenting, “Lamar got robbed.” Another claimed the league gave Allen a “free award,” while a third implied Jackson had more pass interceptions than Allen.
The love for the Baltimore Ravens’ quarterback continued with an X user boldly declaring “Lamar was the MVP.” A fellow supporter added that the NFL chose the wrong honoree. While some fans did not accept the results, it did not change Allen’s status as the league’s 2025 MVP. The honor comes nearly three months after he popped the big question to Steinfeld.
We covered the juicy details last November, confirming the couple announced their engagement in a joint Instagram post. The picture captured Allen on one knee as he proposed to an elated Steinfeld. The actress rocked a floral dress and black boots for the occasion. Meanwhile, the athlete donned a black shirt, khaki pants, and white sneakers.
The lovebirds posed before a beautiful floral arch with red and pink roses. The venue also featured numerous candles to give a romantic atmosphere. The post’s caption revealed Allen and Steinfeld got engaged on Friday, November 22, 2024. Their relationship update came over a year after the first sparked dating rumors in May 2023.
