Nicholas Hoult Was Happy To Work With Nicolas Cage On Renfield
The duo make a captivating pair in Renfield. Meanwhile, working with Nicolas Cage on Renfield was an honor for the younger actor.
Nicholas spoke with ET at the movie’s premiere, explaining why he was “giddy” to work with Nicolas Cage.
“It really was one of the most bizarre scenarios of my life glancing over and seeing Nic Cage, dressed fully as Dracula,” Nicholas said of seeing Nicolas Cage in the role. “I mean, it doesn’t get better than that. So, I was really giddy most of the time on set, and had the best time working with him.”
Despite Nicolas Cage playing an excellent role as Dracula in the horror comedy, Nicholas claimed he still saw “Cage-isms” slip out.
Nicholas added that although Nicolas Cage was fully himself, whenever he switched to Dracula, he was always in awe. The 33-year-old said he wondered at the “influence” Nicolas brought to the role.
Nevertheless, some little “Nic Cage-ism” would slip out into the role, which Nicholas claims is what many “love seeing him do in films.”
Nicholas Hoult Recounts Previously Working With Nicolas Cage
Nicholas plays the role of Renfield in this horror comedy as a tortured aide to his narcissistic boss, Dracula. Renfield is forced to procure his master’s prey and do all his bidding.
However, after centuries of servitude, he’s ready to see if there’s a life outside the shadow of his master.
Meanwhile, this is not the first time the pair are working together. The Great actor and The National Treasure actor appeared together in the 2005 film, The Weatherman.
“I remembered him and had a great experience on that film. It’s a film I’m very proud of,” Nicholas said of his experience filming the comedy-drama. “And I was lucky — first time working in America. I really gained a lot of knowledge from him through that process.”
Nicholas further shared that being older and knowing Nicolas Cage’s filmography made working with him even more surreal.
Hopefully, fans will enjoy Renfield as much as Nicholas Hoult and Nicolas Cage enjoyed creating it.
