In a move that can be considered a cross between ‘The Avengers’ and ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’, Paramount will be creating a movie that will be a massive crossover between Nickelodeon’s many cartoons of the nineties.
A lot of people now between twenty and thirty have fond memories of the many Nicktoons gracing our screens in the last decade of the twentieth century.
From ‘Hey Arnold’ to ‘Rugrats’ to ‘Rocko’s Modern Life’, these shows provided laughs for the kids and enough hidden jokes for adults to enjoy them too.
The Nicktoons movie will be directed and written by Jared Hess. He will be joined by his wife and writing partner Jarusha Hess. The two have worked together on the scripts of films such as Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre. Producing will be Disruption Entertainment’s Mary Parent and Cale Boyter.
Deadline reports;
“The pic is based on an idea by Ali Mendes, who works for Parent at Disruption Entertainment. Mendes grew up loving the characters and hatched the idea to bring them together.”
What shape the plot will take is unknown at this point. Will the Nicktoons end up uniting against some kind of challenge or threat? Or will they support the adventures of some original characters like in ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit?’
We’ll bring you more as it becomes known.
