By now, we are aware Bloodborne fans are inhaling ‘hopium’ harder than those expecting news about a new Splinter Cell game. And while many thought the recent State of Play would give us anything to quench our thirst, it didn’t happen. But not all is doom and gloom. Or, well, it is because LWMedia has launched Nightmare Kart, previously known as Bloodborne Kart. If you don’t mind the PS1 graphics and want something that gives you that Bloodborne feel combined with the hectic fun of Mario Kart or Crash Team Racing, this game’s for you.
If you’re unfamiliar with the story behind Nightmare Kart, it’s the old tale of a meme becoming real. After the Bloodborne demake, the developer started working on Bloodborne Kart. However, Sony contacted the developer and asked them to remove certain assets and change the name. So, while Bloodborne Kart died that day, Nightmare Kart was born, and the developers actually saw this as a boon. With the opportunity to make an original game, what was once a meme now turned into a complete product. Now, it is full of style and many features you wouldn’t expect in a racing game.
According to the game’s description, players can choose from 12 racers and 16 maps, play through a single-player campaign, and challenge bosses. The last one sounds quite intriguing. Given the inspiration taken from a soulslike game, we’re curious to see how the encounters will unfold. Despite the old-school graphics, people are really excited to play this. Regardless of the Bloodborne brand being initially tied to the game, it has its own soul now (no pun intended), and we can’t wait to try it. As of now, the game is available through this link and it’ll be up on Steam later. According to the official post, the game is still in a build review on Steam, but it shouldn’t take long to be up for everyone to try.
