The rumors are true, Nintendo has announced that there will be a Nintendo Direct tomorrow focusing on Luigi’s Mansion 3, and Pokémon Sword and Shield. However, this week Nintendo has also been in the news for a potential Super Smash Bros. Ultimate leak. Will this Nintendo Direct confirm the rumors?

Last weekend the Nintendo UK site put up a page containing information on the fourth upcoming DLC (Downloadable Content) fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The page had the standard information about what will be included with the fighter, saying there will be one new fighter, one new stage, and several new music tracks. However, the more juicer details come from the copyright at the bottom of the page.  The page contained an SNK copyright, meaning the fighter may come from an SNK franchise. The page has now been taken down, screenshots from the page have been posted on twitter by PushDustin.

With the announcement today that a Nintendo Direct will be released tomorrow, there is very little doubt that the new playable character will be announced.  The last Nintendo direct for E3 2019 had two different Super Smash Bros. Ultimate character announcements. It must be more than just a coincidence that the page containing the fighter information went up so close to the Nintendo Direct announcement.

The only thing left to speculate on is who the fighter might be. SNK was integral to the fighting game boom throughout the 1990s. Therefore, a lot of people are predicting that the newest member will be the mascot of Final Fight, Terley Bogard. However, except for Banjo-Kazooie all of the characters Nintendo has announced as DLC  were from more recent games.  SNK released Samurai Shodown this year. Making Haohmaru the series protagonist another likely suspect for who the upcoming fighter might be.

Only time will tell who this new character will be. The Nintendo Direct will be released on September 4, at 3:00 p.m. PT. and can be viewed here.

Let us know in the comments which SNK character would you like to play as in Super Smash Bros Ultimate?
