The NPD Group has announced the best selling game’s for the month of June. For a generally slow month, as must Junes are, it should come as no surprise that the stellar Super Mario Maker 2 topped the charts for June. This continues a hot streak for Nintendo as not only did they have the top-selling game of the month, they had the top-selling console as well!
The Nintendo Switch had another strong month over its competitors as it is the only major console to experience year-to-year growth for June. That being said, its main competition, the PS4 and Xbox One, have been on the market for 6 years so the decline is to be expected.
The second best selling game of the month was Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled. Nitro-Fueled saw the best month of sales across the entire Crash series. This is continuing on the upward trend for the series after last year’s Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy. Crash Team Racing did have the benefit on launching on PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch simultaneously, but that still wasn’t enough to top Super Mario Maker 2 for the month.
A full list of the months best selling games for June can be viewed below.
- Super Mario Maker 2

- Mortal Kombat 11
- Grand Theft Auto V

Clearly, Nintendo had a solid month as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Mario Kart 8 appeared yet again in June’s list. Mortal Kombat 11 continues its reign as the best selling game of the year with Kingdom Hearts 3 trailing closely behind it. Finally, Marvel’s Spider-Man appeared on the list without the benefit of the push from Far From Home to help it. This solid month has propelled Spider-Man into legendary status as it has become the highest-grossing superhero video game of all time.
