If you tried to buy the NES Classic Edition back in 2016 when Nintendo re-released the console to shelves for a limited time and were then disappointed when you found they had sold out almost immediately… Then you’ll be pleased to hear that Nintendo plans on re-releasing the re-release on June 29. They’ve also guaranteed that–this time–it won’t be sold out right away. And, along with the SNES Classic Edition, it’ll be available until at least the end of the year. Let’s hope they know what they’re up against.
Furthermore, Nintendo plans on including over 20 NES games with multiplayer capabilities as a part of its online subscription service for the Switch, which will be released in September. But the fact remains: there is a huge demand for both the SNES and NES Classic Editions. Nintendo reported that they had sold over 5 million units of the SNES Classic alone.
At this pace, Nintendo could start re-releasing other consoles as well–like the Nintendo 64 and GameCube. Imagine the outcry that would ensue. Those consoles jampacked with their most popular games and in a compacted format. At this rate, anything is possible.
The NES Classic Edition comes with 30 built-in games. They include:
- Balloon Fight
- Bubble Bobble
- Castlevania
- Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest
- Donkey Kong
- Donkey Kong Jr.
- Double Dragon II: The Revenge
