Nintendo Network Maintenance is a regular occurrence, with Nintendo updating their network services in order to improve connectivity. Nintendo is expected to perform maintenance on the Wii U and 3DS network services next week.

According to Nintendo’s maintenance schedule, “some network services,” including online play and rankings may be unavailable when the maintenance begins on Monday, January 11 at 5 pm PT, 8 pm ET. Services should be back up and running the following day at 3 am PT, 6 am ET. You can see the service alert below. The exact times for all regions are below.

Nintendo Network Maintenance

  • 5 PM PT (Jan. 11) – 3 AM PT (Jan. 12)
  • 8 PM ET (Jan. 11) – 6 AM ET (Jan. 12)
  • 2 AM in the UK (Jan. 12) – 11 AM in the UK (Jan. 12)
  • 3 AM in Europe (Jan. 12) – 12 PM in Europe (Jan. 12)

So far, it isn’t clear what is meant by “some network services”; whether that means the eShop, Miiverse or Nintendo Account functions for Japan will be unavailable.

2016 is shaping up to be a big year for Nintendo. The company will launch its first smartphone game, Miitomo, in March. Later on this year, Nintendo is expected to divulge information about its console, the NX. We will keep you posted with more news about Nintendo updates as it comes to fruition.

I believe that games are an important form of entertainment, and that they can uplift and inspire millions of people around the world. I love JRPGs, and dabble in many other genres, especially MOBAs.
