Nintendo released a brand new Metroid Dread trailer for the Switch with a promise of more to come. Along with the new trailer, the developer dropped a slew of information on Samus’ new abilities, weapons, and more.
The two-minute Metroid Dread trailer, originally dropped on Twitter, doesn’t show off any gameplay, but it does show off Samus’ new suit in a flurry of cinematics. It also highlighted what we know of the story so far. “Once DNA-extracting research machines, the imposing E.M.M.I. are now hunting Samus down. Tensions are high as you evade these E.M.M.I. to avoid a cruel death while finding a way to take them down. Find out what turned these robotic wonders into the scourge of ZDR and escape with your life.”
The “The Powers of Samus“, a detailed report from the dev team, highlighted the new abilities found in Metroid Dread. Samus’ classic Arm Cannon makes an appearance along with new abilities like Phantom Cloak and Morph Ball. The dev team commented, “We wished to emphasize the player being able to maintain their speed and momentum at any given time, aiming to make the flow through different types of gameplay feel as seamless as possible.”
