MAR10 Day, Nintendo’s tenuously-linked celebration of everyone’s favorite mustache-sporting plumber, Mario, is back again for another year.
Every year on March 10, Mario fans mark the occasion of MAR10 Day, recognizing the mustached hero who leaps to the rescue anytime smiles are needed. What makes March 10 so special for Mario? It’s because MAR10 looks just like Mario’s name!”
In anticipation, some discounts have already started to trickle down to select titles on the eShop. Nintendo has loads more in store for the day itself and beyond, with sales and in-game events aplenty.
MAR10 Day Sales and Events
First up, we have the Super Mario Bros. 35th Anniversary Sales. Running until March 13, the sale sees a selection of Nintendo Switch games starring Mario and his circle of supporting friends discounted by a cool 35%. Super Mario Maker 2, Mario Tennis Aces, Super Mario Party, and Luigi’s Mansion 3 all benefit from the discount. You’ll find these over on the eShop or at select retailers.
Next up, a Mario Tour heads to mobile kart racer Mario Kart Tour to mark MAR10 Day. Playable from March 9 until March 23, the Tour includes a new course, drivers, karts, and gliders – all are, of course, Mario-themed. Also on mobile, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp also lands the MAR10 day treatment. A crossover event with Super Mario Bros. 35th Anniversary runs up until March 23, granting players goodies such as special poses, a Mario hat cushion, and past event items.
Over on the Switch, a new anniversary-themed event is now available in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Warp pipes, Super Mushrooms, “?” blocks – all perfect for sprucing up island life with a spot of Mario.
Nintendo has also launched a brand new special edition version of the Nintendo Switch sporting Mario’s iconic red and blue colors. This one will set you back $299.99, but you’ll get red Joy-Cons with blue straps, a red dock, a blue Joy-Con grip accessory, and a red Switch.
