A North Carolina man is being charged after videos supposedly showing him harassing and attacking women in the street went viral, with the man allegedly filming and posting them himself. The case is notable both because of the shocking acts depicted in the videos and the fact that he had been arrested numerous times before the latest incident occurred.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg police reportedly identified the man as 32-year-old Di-Quan Schafar Hunt after officers investigating an unrelated complaint were presented with social media accounts containing videos the detectives were already looking into.
In one of the clips, allegedly posted by Hunt himself, he can be seen punching a woman in the street around July 30 in the South End. According to the police report, the woman later suffered injuries in the attack and was hospitalized, according to Fox News.
The latest video shows Hunt approaching another woman on a sidewalk, shouting and following her as she attempts to get away, ultimately taking cover behind a parked car. In the recording, Hunt can be heard shouting, “What’s up with that McDonald’s *expletive*? You wanna run, *expletive*? You wanna run, *expletive*?”
He continues chasing her, adding, “I bet you run again, *expletive*,” before invoking Donald Trump’s name and making an unverified claim that a separate individual had assaulted his son, followed by “I’ma *expletive* kill you.”
North Carolina court records reviewed by police show Hunt has been arrested at least nine times since October 2023. The suspect was taken to the hospital following his most recent arrest on Thursday and is set to be charged with assault with a deadly weapon upon release, the outlet added.
Internet Reacts to North Carolina Man’s Arrest
The video drew a mix of concern and dark humor in the comments on Reddit’s r/PublicFreakout. One commenter wrote, “Dude sounds schizophrenic or something. After so many instances of violence though, it’s time to lock him up and throw away the key. Some people aren’t fit for society.” Another said, “If you do a crime enough times, they’ll let you off scott free on the grounds of ‘mental instability.’”
Others reacted with bleaker jokes about the state of things. A separate commenter wrote, “Damn. You know it’s getting bad when the psychos are uploading their own *expletive* to the ‘net. Zombie apocolypse, incoming.” Another added, “Need to bring the asylums back for these folks.”
A fifth commenter tied the incident to a broader online debate, writing, “And then men get mad because most women say they would choose the bear.”
Hunt has a lengthy criminal record in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, dating back to before the 2023 arrests reported by police, according to court records obtained by WCNC.
He was found guilty of assault with a deadly weapon and carrying a concealed weapon in March 2026 after being arrested in December 2025, and was convicted of assaulting an officer in December 2025 after being arrested in November 2025.
In addition, he was convicted in 2020 of shooting at occupied property, and was ordered to serve a suspended prison sentence. Furthermore, he was arrested numerous times for assault on a female and domestic violence protective order violations between 2012 and 2020, with most of those charges being dismissed.
According to state court records, despite his long criminal record, Hunt had not served a single day in prison after being sentenced to two years of probation.
