Cats have a reputation for not being too friendly from time to time. However, this North Carolina veterinarian has a hilarious way of getting their feline friends to calm down a little. Kaitlin Wakefield works as a vet assistant and treats all kinds of animals for a variety of ailments. However, the felines might just as well be her favorite. Although when they start to get too out of hand, Kaitlin performs a little kitty “Exorcism.”
Newsweek confirms that animals at a veterinarian’s office tend to be extremely frightened. From other animals, strange smells, all the way to unfamiliar surroundings. Cats are one animal that can get incredibly stressed, so they must have their own quiet and private space where they can decompress those big feelings. That is where these exorcisms come in.
North Carolina Vet Assistant Gains Internet Following After Cat Exorcism
A recent TikTok video posted by the North Carolina veterinarian shows users what many online call a “spicy” cat. This basically means a cat that is very unhappy or stressed. The cat is in its own space with a blanket covering the front of the cage. Although the kicker is that Kaitlin had put a makeshift cross on the outside of the cage as a way of doing her feline exorcisms.
TikTok users have seen the video of the technique and seemingly think it’s one of the funniest things they have seen. One comment from the post stated, “Give me everything you’ve got,” regarding the crazy cats videos. The viral video has around 190.3K likes, 586 comments, 7,726 saves, and over 1.9 million views. The cat seen and heard in the TikTok video is named Percy. Percy was described as a calm and loving individual when he arrived at the clinic. However, when put in his holding cage became “very anxious.” The meow-like scream Percy would make when any living thing walked by was what prompted Kaitlin to make the popsicle stick cross. When asked why she did it, Wakefield made it clear it was “just for laughs.”
This North Carolina veterinarian’s silly little joke has brought her a new level of internet fame as well as attention to the mental and physical health needs of all animals, not just the cats. Kaitlin Wakefield and her co-workers are doing an essential job at their clinic, and it seems the TikTok users are still hungry for the cat content. It looks as though this animal doctor has quite a little following now, and will surely continue to grow her platform. However, for now, it seems like it’s back to the grind, and of course, more cat exorcisms.
