In a post on the Official Fallout Twitter account on December 12th, Bethesda announced a second run of the much sought after Nuka Cola Quantum will be available for purchase in Targets around the country. Bethesda announced that they will be available for purchase or free for anyone purchasing a copy of Fallout 4 or a Season Pass for the Xbox One.
Made and bottled by Jones Soda, Nuka Cola Quantum was part of multiple Fallout themed items such as the PIP Boy Edition of Fallout 4 and The Vault Dwellers Survival Guide. Unlike special editions of Fallout 4 and other Fallout themed items, Nuka Cola Quantum immediately ran into issues due to it being sold exclusively in Target. Multiple instances of Target employees buying large amounts and sometimes full runs of the soda before shoppers could obtain the items were reported. After these large purchases, Nuka Cola Quantums, which sells for $2.99 a bottle, were being sold online being marked up from $50 to $500 per bottle or set.
Radiation Never Tasted so Good…or Blue
This is not the first time Bethesda has dealt with extreme scarcity with one of their products. The PIP Boy Edition of Fallout 4 was announced at 2015’s E3 and the initial run through Amazon was sold out within 10 hours of being put on sale. Bethesda was able to produce several limited amounts from this point, but demand eventually was too much for them to meet. With the stories of Target employees and single gamers buying full lots of the Nuka Cola Quantum, many see this as Bethesda giving gamers a second chance at obtaining this rare collectible.
