Developer Sumo Digital has announced a major content update for NUTMEG!, with five new scenarios arriving in time for the World Cup’s kick-off on June 11.
The upcoming additions will allow players to revisit and potentially rewrite some of international football’s most memorable matches from the 1980s and 1990s. Alongside recreating historic encounters, the update will also introduce several fantasy matchups, giving managers the chance to explore alternate footballing timelines and settle a few long-running “what if?” debates.
While specific details about the five scenarios have yet to be revealed, the new content appears to build on one of NUTMEG!’s core strengths: blending football history with its unique card-driven match system. Rather than focusing solely on long-term club management, the scenario mode offers self-contained challenges that place players directly into pivotal moments and ask them to alter the outcome.

Released earlier this year, NUTMEG! combines elements of traditional football management simulations with collectible card game mechanics. Set between 1980 and 2000, the game puts players in charge of building squads, managing finances, developing talent, and navigating two decades of football history from a nostalgic, era-appropriate office environment.
Matches themselves play out through a series of tactical card encounters, where managers must balance probability, momentum, and special modifiers to guide their team to victory. The result is a football experience that sits somewhere between a management sim and a strategic card battler, offering a different take on the sport compared to more conventional genre entries.
The addition of World Cup-themed scenarios seems like a natural fit for the game’s historical focus. The 1980s and 1990s produced no shortage of unforgettable international moments, from dramatic knockout ties to legendary individual performances, making the period fertile ground for scenario-based challenges.
No release date has been announced for the content update beyond its planned arrival ahead of the World Cup. More details on the featured matches and fantasy encounters are expected closer to launch.
