Nvidia’s 4070 Ti was released on January 5, 2023, but the RTX 4070 is about to make its way to PC hardware shelves across the globe. It’s speculated that the RTX 4070 will release on April 13, 2023. But how does it fare against its bigger brother, the 4070 Ti? Which one should you get? Let’s take a look at the Nvidia RTX 4070 vs 4070 Ti.
Nvidia RTX 4070 vs 4070 Ti
We all love a card that’s affordable and provides more bang for your buck, and in this case, the RTX 4070 will retail for around $599 MSRP, which is about 200 dollars cheaper compared to the 4070 Ti.
One thing to note here is that the Nvidia RTX 4070 and 4070 Ti both feature the same chip, albeit the former runs a cut-down version of the latter. Leaks suggest that the RTX 4070’s specs have been cut down further, utilizing a much weaker SKU than was previously anticipated.
In early benchmark leaks, we were showcased with some staggering metrics. The RTX 4070 went toe-to-toe against the RTX 3090 Ti. But it’s become apparent that the GPU tested here was not the RTX 4070 but its bigger brother, the 4070Ti.
In late December, Harukaze5719 shared some metrics regarding the upcoming 2 “Ada’ SKUs. The upcoming RTX GPU will feature 5,888 CUDA cores, 184 Tensor, 46 RT cores, 184 TMUs, and an ROP of 64. Compared to the former, the 4070 Ti will get 80 ROPs, 240 Tensor Cores, and 60 RT cores, but the same 12 GB 21 Gbps GDDR6X memory configuration.
All in all, the RTX GPU will be comparatively slower than its bigger brother, but for the price of $599, it’s a solid steal, considering it’s expected to go toe-to-toe with the previous year’s 3080.
If you’re on a budget but still want to game at cranked-up settings without breaking the bank, go for the RTX 4070, but if you’re really a fan of the Ti badge. Be our guest, and get the 4070 Ti. You’re chalking it up to a mere 20-30 FPS difference at most.
