Oblivious Washington DC Uber Driver Falls Into Hidden Pond After Ignoring Warnings Then Tries to Sue: ‘That’s on Him’

I mean he was warned

You would expect that when someone warns a person they would listen to them. If you are told not to do something and then you proceed to do it, then whatever happens next is your fault. Well, a Washington DC Uber driver believed that he wasn’t in the wrong after a situation happened while he was delivering an order. In camera footage posted by the customer, you can see the driver going towards the building with the order in his hands. There seems to be what looks like grass in front of the building. You would assume, however, that he would look for a clear spot where he can walk through, but he doesn’t do that. Instead, he ended up falling.

Can you believe this? Uber driver tried to file a claim to sue me for damages? #uber #driver #legaladvice #washingtondc #deliverydriver

The customer can’t be blamed because he did everything he could. He told the driver several times not to walk through there, but he didn’t listen. He also made it clear that it wasn’t grass. What it is, though, is a bio-pond that helps with floods. Saying it’s not grass is way easier than explaining this. The guy even made sure to check on him after he fell. The fall wasn’t the end of it, though, because the Washington DC customer shared that the driver tried to file a claim to sue him for damages. He also shared that he sent the video footage to be used against his claim. No matter what happens, the driver is the one at fault here. Another Uber driver used the sidewalk without being warned at all. This means that the sidewalk is visible.

People Reacting to the Oblivious Washington DC Uber Driver

Many people sided with the Washington DC customer, especially after they saw how hard he tried to prevent what happened. This made them start blaming the Uber driver for being this oblivious. “Welp. That’s on him. He didn’t listen. Glad it was recorded,” one person wrote. Someone else believed that he doesn’t have a lawsuit. “he can’t possibly do anything. He was warned, verbally, several times,” they wrote. Another person joked and said, “lol trying to sue.. for what.. his negligence?!” One woman found it funny, too, that the driver didn’t respond to the warnings at all. “Him not responding at ALL is cracking me up,” she wrote. It’s definitely valid that people would blame the driver. After all, he was warned several times. Even if he didn’t hear the guy, why would he decide to step on the grass? What happened to using the sidewalk?

Others had a different outlook toward what took place. They believed that the customer should have asked for a refund, especially since his food was dropped to the ground. “if anything you should report to uber that he crushed and dropped your food and you want a refund,” one person wrote. Someone else shared the same opinion as they said, “you should file a complaint against him because now the chicken tenders are touching the mac and cheese so you can’t eat it.” A third person also said, “my only concern is the food…-is the food okay my friend?” There were some people, however, who decided to blame the customer for not putting up a sign. It was then that he made it clear that he doesn’t have the authority to do this. If the driver wants to sue then he should focus on the city.
