What’s going on with this wave of people stealing balls from fans and kids? The latest incident unfolded at a Florida baseball game between the Phillies and the Miami Marlins. Phillies outfielder Harrison Bader smashed a home run, and as the ball flew into the stands, fans scrambled to catch it.
One father managed to snag the ball and immediately handed it to his young son before giving him a big hug a wholesome moment any baseball fan would cheer for. But that heartwarming scene didn’t last long. An obnoxious “Karen,” who had also been reaching for the ball, stormed up to the family. She put her hand on the father’s arm and started yelling at him, right in front of his son, who was still clutching the prized ball in his glove.
In a close-up video of the Florida Karen, you can see her yelling at the father and telling him “You took it from me.” She then claims that the father took the ball from her hands. I mean, the ball looked to be on the ground and not in anyone’s hand. The poor dad probably realized that the Karen would keep bullying his family, so he had to take the ball back from his son and give it back to her. Let’s just say that people booed her as she walked away with the ball. Thankfully, the boy’s day wasn’t ruined. The Marlins saw what happened, and they sent a goodie bag with one of their staff members, who then apologized to the kid and asked him if he was okay. It even turned out that his birthday was in a couple of days.
While the Florida boy’s day was getting better, the Karen’s day was definitely getting worse. Along with the goodie bag, the Phillies decided to do something of their own. They got the kid to meet the players including Bader. It’s not just that, but Bader also gave the kid a signed bat. Now, the Karen would probably be livid that things turned out this way. Just like the Phillies wrote under their post, “Baseball is the best.” People like the Karen don’t represent the game or the fans. Also, can people please stop stealing stuff from kids?

Everyone now hates the Florida Karen, which isn’t surprising. People pointed out how horrible she was as one person said, “Holy shit that’s just disgusting behaviour, you lost it, the guy gives it to his kid and you have to make sure no one is happy. What an awful person.” Another person applauded the father for being the bigger person. “Good one that guy for not making a scene and escalating it any further.
