Ohio Critics Unload on Vivek Ramaswamy After Judge Refuses to Kill Whistleblower Case: ‘Scamdog Billionaire’

Whistleblower case haunts Ramaswamy

Vivek Ramaswamy’s business record is back under scrutiny in Ohio after a federal judge refused to dismiss key whistleblower claims against the Republican nominee for governor.

Former Strive Asset Management executive Joyce Rosely alleges Ramaswamy supervised her, pressured her and another employee to violate securities laws, received their repeated objections, and later participated in the decision to fire her.

Ramaswamy, Strive and co-founder Anson Frericks deny the allegations. They have described Rosely as an underperforming employee who was terminated during a legitimate reorganization.

As reported by Tiffin Ohio, U.S. District Judge Julien Xavier Neals has not ruled that Rosely’s allegations are true. His Aug. 25 decision instead found that her complaint contained sufficient allegations for the central whistleblower claims to proceed.

That distinction did little to soften the reaction in an r/Ohio discussion of the case.

One commenter wrote, “He always seemed to be a scam artist. Never understood the hype on him.”

Another sarcastically called him a “Perfect candidate,” while another dismissed the latest controversy as simply “Ramasmarmy being Ramasmarmy.”

The comments reflect deep hostility toward Ramaswamy among participants in that particular thread, although a Reddit discussion is not a scientific measure of Ohio public opinion.

The political problem may be bigger than the lawsuit

Rosely alleges that Strive’s founders pushed employees toward several forms of improper securities activity, including using noncompliant sales materials, involving unregistered employees in sales discussions and soliciting business before certain products were registered and trading.

She says she and fellow executive Jeff Nye repeatedly objected. Both were fired on March 21, 2023.

That detail proved important. Neals wrote that “firing both objecting employees is enough to support the inference” that Rosely’s dismissal could have been connected to her objections.

For Ramaswamy’s critics, the allegations collide awkwardly with the business credentials he has made central to his political identity.

Some Reddit commenters were equally cynical about whether any of it would hurt him electorally.

One argued that Republican voters “only care about laws when they are applied to others,” while another suggested the allegations would be treated as qualifications rather than liabilities by party leaders.

Those are partisan opinions, not evidence of how Ohio’s wider electorate will vote. But they expose the political tension now hanging over the case.

Ramaswamy has spent years trying to move or dismiss the litigation. The whistleblower claims have survived. Now, with the governor’s race underway, the allegations are no longer buried in procedural arguments. They are moving forward with him.
