Ohio Man Removed From Bar After Racist Outburst Sparks Backlash: ‘Somebody Come Get Their Grandpa!’

Next time, leave Grandpa at home.

An Ohio bar confrontation has gone viral after a man was removed from the establishment following a profanity-filled argument in which he repeatedly directed a racial slur at another customer.

According to the man in the clip, the woman whom he directed his racism at was in his face. He repeatedly asked her to get out of his face and seemed angry when she didn’t. However, the video shows that the woman was sitting two full bar stools away from the man. She does not appear to be inappropriately close to him in any way. Of course, that’s not to say that sitting too close to him would warrant his behavior.

Interestingly, many viewers directed their criticism at the bar as much as the man himself, arguing staff should have intervened sooner. One person wrote, “This guy is still being served while already visibly intoxicated and making rude comments. Best thing to do is speak with the bar owner about the risk of losing their liquor license over continuing to serve someone who is past the point of being visibly drunk.”

Others questioned why he was allowed to remain inside for so long. One commenter speculated the bar “needed the money, I guess. I would have kicked him and taken the L on the tab.” While the man was eventually removed from the establishment, many viewers felt staff should have acted much earlier.

It’s also worth noting that the bartender who ultimately removed the man appeared to be working alone. Without knowing the full circumstances, it’s unclear whether staff had an opportunity to intervene sooner or were weighing their own safety before asking him to leave.

Similarly, the OP believes the man will be allowed back at the same bar the next day. However, others assured them, “You’ll see… This place will get their 15 minutes, and they’ll have to be careful at least temporarily.” Another person echoed, “Give it a few days, he will NOT be welcome… At least for a while.“

Others put the blame solely on the man himself. Comments such as, “Somebody come get their [expletive] grandpa,” and “It just makes me sad that there seems to be just so many hate-filled people,” surround the clip.

The incident has continued to spark debate online, with many viewers arguing bars have a responsibility to step in before situations like this escalate.
