A man in Ohio, controversially, lets his dog walk the streets by himself and always expects him to return on his own. One day, however, the dog didn’t come back. Turns out, his neighbors had taken the animal inside their house and were even walking the dog as their own, according to him.
A clip of a brief interaction with the neighbors was shared by the dog owner himself, TikTok user dirty_d.a. He explained in the video’s description that his dog, a Great Pyrenees, “walks himself around the neighborhood,” adding that he is friendly and very intelligent.
However, a day before the clip was published, his dog didn’t come back, and the owner “figured” that that was “strange.” Then, other uninvolved neighbors contacted the owner and told him that they saw the people living across his home were walking his dog and had him in their house. The owner, knowing what had occurred, was set on recovering his “kidnapped” dog.
In the clip, the owner is seen waiting for his dog for almost a full minute. Eventually, a shoeless man exited the house. The owner asked, “Do you have my dog?” His neighbor, immediately, asked if he referred to a “white one.” That was indeed his Great Pyrenees.
“Why are you taking my dog?” the owner asked. The neighbor explained that he had seen him walking alone. However, the owner told his neighbor that he had seen the dog before. He insisted they knew it was his dog.
Dog And Owner Reunited, Reactions
The Ohio neighbor then tried to explain that they had “just moved here” and that they didn’t know. However, the owner insisted that they had seen his dog in the past and knew that he was, indeed, his. He explained that the animal had even played in their yard, and while the two men didn’t know each other, the neighbor did know the dog.
Things started to briefly escalate when the neighbor explained that the dog looked hungry and thirsty. The owner refuted the claim, saying that his dog had plenty of food and water. The neighbor tried to apologize, but the owner just wanted his dog back, and even told him they were “cool.”
A minute later, the dog was reunited with his owner. The Great Pyrenees’s name is Neeko, and, according to the owner, he had been shaved. The owner told his neighbor that, should he see Neeko by himself, to just “let him do his thing.”
Some users showed their support for the Ohio dog owner. Many others were critical of the fact that he lets Neeko walk on the streets alone without a leash.
“Why was your dog on the street!!?” one user asked. Another one commented, “Why is your dog just wandering the streets like he homeless?” A third one said, “Someone needs to call animal control, leash laws exist for a reason.”
Regardless of the controversy, at least Neeko got to reunite with his owner. It appears that his street solo adventures will continue, though. Hopefully, he will be back home every time without any issues.
