Is this library just out to get them?

A mom was recently banned from an Ohio library for an incident involving her disabled daughter. But now she’s speaking out when the library also banned her son for an alleged violent act. To make matters worse, they wouldn’t even present her with the evidence after accusing him. This mom decided to take matters into her own hands and confront library employees about what her family experienced.

Tae (@taethebabi) was banned from a Columbus, Ohio library for several months due to an incident involving her disabled daughter. She didn’t elaborate on that but, then, her son experienced the same thing. According to her, her 12-year-old son was banned from the library for “throwing scissors,” as he was accused of. Tae said this didn’t seem right, as her son wasn’t at that library for several months!

Now, Tae is saying that she thinks her family is being racially “profiled” by staff at this library. She spoke with a security guard, who told her that her son wasn’t responsible and didn’t actually do it. However, another security guard claims that it was, indeed, Tae’s son who threw the scissors. Tae went down to the library to confront the guard on his accusations, saying she knows her son didn’t do it.

Tae records the security guard in question and shows her children standing there as they confront the guard on his accusations. She shares that the guard accused her son of being there at the library even though he allegedly wasn’t. Tae then asks the guard what her son allegedly did while he was there. The guard, clearly not wanting to be recorded, states, “He threw scissors down from the second floor.” The Tiktoker asks the guard if he has proof, and he says they do.

However, things take a weird turn when Tae asks the guard if she can see the evidence of her son committing that act. The guard shakes his head and tells her, “Nope.” To her, it seems odd that they won’t even let her see video evidence of something her son supposedly did. Tae states for her audience, “I’m TIRED of black children being profiled and treated like suspects based on their appearance. My son is 12, and I WILL NOT let anyone make him feel like a criminal because of how he looks!”

The video immediately sparked reactions and opinions from commenters after Tae’s posting. One commenter asked, “Why can’t I see if my kid did something??? We don’t all look alike.” Another commenter suggested to Tae: “Ask his supervisor or the manager of the library.” One commenter added, “I hope you called the police to watch the video.” Commenters continue to agree that Tae should have been given access to the video after the accusations.
