A woman in Kent, Ohio, accused her neighbors of liberally using the N-word and laughing about it as she was getting ready for work. She decided to confront them, and they gave an extremely ridiculous excuse, explaining that they had said “snickers” instead.
The incident was recorded by TikTok user selfishlysustainable, whose real name is Allison. The clip shows her exiting her house and walking to her neighbors’. As soon as they open the door, Allison gets straight to the point.
“Hi, I don’t know which of you guys were here yelling [racial slur],” Allison said. “Just want you to know that I have it on video.”
During the interaction, the woman told the man who opened the door that she was going to let the leasing office know about the alleged use of the N-word. Nervously, the man closed the door, but then a woman appeared to open it again. That is when the ridiculous excuse was given.
“We were saying snickers,” the woman told Allison.
All the people inside the house denied saying the N-word, and Allison returned to her room, saying that she had it on video and wishing them a “great day.”
Alleged Racist Rant, Reactions
In the follow-up TikTok video, Allison explained that her neighbors were allegedly laughing at their use of the racial slur. She added that her wall is connected to her neighbors’, as they live in an off-campus house near Kent State University (KSU).
“You’re lucky we didn’t get that on video. We could ruin your life,” one of the neighbors said, according to Allison.
Then, the neighbors are accused of laughing at a friend who lost her scholarship for using the N-word, with the video of the moment allegedly being played. All the while, Allison kept hearing their laughter from the other side of the wall.
Of course, the overwhelming majority of the users blasted the Ohio neighbors, accusing them of being racist.
“Him shutting the door immediately already screams guilty,” one user commented. Another one wrote, “They literally say it all the time when they don’t think people are listening.” A third one added, “I have never in my life heard a situation where someone was saying ‘snickers’ loud enough to be heard through a wall.”
It is unknown if the neighbors have faced any repercussions from KSU. However, they allegedly called the police on Allison. According to her, the Ohio officers told them she did nothing wrong.
