Kim Kardashian is attempting to regain a piece of property that once belonged to her late father, Robert Kardashian Sr. Currently, an inscribed bible that once belonged to Robert is in the custody of the OJ Simpson estate. However, the estate has rejected Kim’s bid for the family heirloom. The item is now set to be auctioned off and it seems that the reality TV star will have to find a way to purchase it online if she wants it back.
According to People Magazine, Kim Kardashian offered $15,000 to the OJ Simpson estate for the bible. However, due to legal red tape, her bid was rejected. Kim allegedly made an offer on the item after it was already under contract with the court to be auctioned with other items in OJ’s estate.
The executor of Simpson’s estate, Malcolm LaVergne, says that the auction money will be used to pay off the former NFL star’s debts following his death. However, LaVergne did say that he would have been willing to go through the legal process to get the bible for Kardashian if only she had offered more money for it.
OJ Simpson Estate Rejects Kim Kardashian Bible Bid
“The amount is why I had no choice, because why would I spend $15,000 of estate money — why would I spend $15,000 in attorney’s fees — to sell it to Kim for $15,000?” LaVergne stated. “That’s a zero-sum game. That’s a bad business model. If Kim had offered $150,000 for it, we would’ve been in court getting this approved outside of the auction,” he added.
LaVergne went on to reveal that if Kardashian wants her father’s bible that she’ll have to bid on the item online. Currently, the bible has a leading bid of nearly $10,000. “She may even get it cheaper than the 15 grand, so who knows,” he quipped.
The bible holds a lot of significance. Of course, it belonged to Kim Kardashian’s late father, which makes it a treasure for the SKIMS creator. However, it was also given to OJ Simpson by Robert Kardashian on the day after he was arrested for the murder of his wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ronald Goldman. Robert wrote a handwritten note inside the bible for his friend.
“OJ, this book will help. God loves and he will speak to you with his words. Read this book every day. God has a definite plan for your life. You are his child and he will use you again. I love you and God loves you,” the note reads.
Simpson and Kardashian Sr. were close friends in life. When OJ went to trial for murder, Robert was by his side as part of his legal team. The football star was later convicted of the crimes. Robert died years later in 2003 after battling cancer. OJ passed away two decades later in 2024.
It’s unclear if Kim Kardashian plans to bid on her late father’s bible. However, if she wants to obtain it from OJ Simpson’s estate following the initial rejection, she’ll likely find a way.
