OJ Simpson‘s four kids each have a part of their dad to hold on to long after his death, converting his remains into special cremation jewelry. The disgraced Football star passed away in April 2024, decades after standing trial for the death of his wife, Nicole Brown, and her male friend Ron Goldman. He died at 76, following his battle with metastatic prostate cancer. Notably, while the former Hall of Famer had an estranged relationship with some of his kids, he got to reconnect with them during his last moments as they bid their final farewells.
Four months after his demise, OJ Simpson’s kids have found a way to further remember him with everlasting memorabilia. The late icon’s longtime lawyer and executor of his estate Malcolm LaVergne revealed that his kids opted to transform his remains into jewelry. The cremation jewelry was then shared among OJ Simpson’s four adult kids including Justin, Sydney, Arnelle, and Jason.
OJ Simpson’s Kids Immortalize Remains for $4k Despite Compiling Debt
The cremation jewelry comprises miniature urns filled with cremated parts of OJ Simpson, attached to necklaces or trinkets. According to TMZ, OJ’s family spent a total of $4,243.06 on the entire process which included cremation, making the jewelry, and creating his death certificate. While Malcolm got none of the pieces, due to his lack of interest, he signed off on the agreement with written consent as the estate’s executor.
Making the remains into cremation jewelry is in line with the former athlete’s wishes to leave his remains in his kids’ possession. Following OJ’s death in April, the family organized a private gathering at the Palm Downtown Mortuary & Cemetery to see to his cremation. At the time, Malcolm disclosed that the kids would get to keep the cremated remains just as their dad had long desired. He shared,
“[OJ’s] cremated remains will be in the possession of his children to do as they see feet, pursuant to his wishes.”
After much contemplation, it seems OJ Simpson’s kids decided cremation jewelry was the ideal keepsake to immortalize their dad’s legacy. These keepsakes would be a reminder of their dad, whose life was marred by the ripple effect of his double-murder trial, debts, and outstanding legal judgments.
