More details about OJ Simpson‘s murder trial and the death of Nicole Brown come to light months after the athlete’s death. The trial of the century played out in the nineties, with former football star OJ Simpson charged with the death of his wife Nicole Brown, and her male friend. Despite being the major suspect in the double murder, OJ slithered his way out, with the court dismissing the case due to inconclusive evidence. The legend eventually passed away in April 2024 with the debate about his guilt or innocence lingering on.
TMZ recently released a documentary capturing OJ Simpson’s murder trial, death, and legacy. The documentary dubbed TMZ Presents O.J. How He Really Did It features several never-before-heard accounts from those closest to the icon before his passing. Among them, are TV reporter Harvey Levin and former LAPD cop Jim Holcomb who seem more knowledgeable about the secret murders.
In the documentary, Harvey revealed OJ Simpson’s best friend Al Cowlings knew more about the murder than he let off. While Al never spilled on his friend, Harvey claimed he sought the help of the late Wayne Hughes, founder of Public Storage. Harvey believed Al threatened to reveal all about the murders if Wayne failed to help him out of the infamous Bronco chase scandal. To prevent that from happening, Harvey claimed Al and Jim Holcombs met at Wayne’s home where they possibly discussed a way out.
Hence the former KCBS reporter is positive Jim knows the content of that conversation, including what Al told Wayne about OJ Simpson’s connection to the double murder. However, Harvey’s attempts to get Jim talking in the new documentary proved futile, only succeeding in leaving the former LAPD officer all worked up.
As for why Al’s knowledge about his friend’s involvement in the 1994 murder of Nicole Brown and her friend was relevant, one of his exes once told Time Magazine about the murder weapon, per TMZ. According to the ex, a porn star, Al once told her the murder knife “now sleeps with the fishes.”
Interestingly, Wayne never testified during the murder trial despite his close relationship with both OJ Simpson and Nicole Brown. Prosecutors reportedly wanted him to take the witness stand, but the presiding Judge Ito never allowed it for some reason. Although Wayne passed away along with his secret in August 2021, Harvey believes Jim knows just as much about the murders.
Like Wayne, Jim also had connections with OJ Simpson and Nicole Brown, having responded to their home several times on reports of domestic disturbances. according to reports, Wayne knew about these domestic disturbances as well because Nicole ran to his house on occasion crying for help whenever OJ got physical.
Harvey purchased the house from the Public Storage founder in 1984, giving him a direct link to the double murder saga, and the secrets lurking behind those walls. The key to unlocking them? Jim Holcomb, who happens to be the guy Wayne tasked with installing phone systems in the property back in the 90s.
