Since his death, Liam Payne has received many tributes from friends, family, and fans. His One Direction bandmates have now shared how “devastated” they feel about losing one of their brothers. Zayn Malik led the charge by taking to his Instagram page to share a lengthy, heartfelt emotional memorandum to Payne after he lost his life at the age of 31.
Malik shared how he regrets not thanking the deceased singer for helping him through “some of the most difficult times.” He cited when he was a 17-year-old homesick kid as an instance. Alongside a throwback photo of himself and Payne taking a nap during their One direction touring days, Malik partly wrote:
“I lost a brother when you left us and cant explain to you what I’d give to just give you a hug one last time and say goodbye to you properly and tell you that I loved and respected you dearly. I will cherish all the memories I have with you in my heart forever.”
He concluded his tribute by expressing how devastated he felt and added, “I hope that wherever you are right now, you are good and at peace [praying hands emoji], and you know how loved you are. Love you, bro.”
Louis Tomlinson Promises To Tell Liam Payne’s Son Amazing Stories
Tomlinson followed behind Malik to post a tribute on his Instagram page, writing, “I am beyond devastated to be writing this, but yesterday I lost a brother. Liam was somebody I looked up to every day, such a positive, funny, and kind soul.” Tomlinson noted that Payne “was an incredible songwriter with a great sense of melody,” recalling how he “was instantly amazed by his voice” in the early days of their friendship when they just met.
The singer revealed how often he and the deceased talked about getting back in the studio together to try and recreate the writing chemistry they had built. The 33-year-old noted he was “struggling with the idea of saying goodbye” but shared his gratitude for reconnecting with the late singer after the band separated. Tomlinson finishes his tribute by vowing to be present in the late singer’s 7-year-old son Bear Grey, in his words:
“I will be the Uncle he needs in his life and tell him stories of how amazing his dad was.”
Harry Styles Sends Warm Message to Liam Payne’s Family
Harry Styles also shared a heartfelt tribute to Payne, stating his devastation. With a photo of Payne in front of a massive stadium crowd, Styles wrote that Payne was an “incredibly loving” person. Like Malik, Styles confessed in his message how much he would miss his friend and how he would cherish their memories together. The 30-year-old singer ended his tribute by remembering his bandmate’s family members. He wrote:
“My heart breaks for Karen, Geoff, Nicola and Ruth, his son Bear, and all those around the world who knew and loved him, as I did.”
One Direction’s Instagram page also released an official statement from all the band members. “We’re completely devastated by the news of Liam’s passing. In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly.” the message echoed and concluded:
“For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us. We will miss him terribly.”
