Usually when anime video game ports come to mind most of them end up being fighting games sprinkled in with cutscenes surrounding similar – or the exact same – storylines from the show, like Dragon Ball Z or Naruto. One Piece: World Seeker looks to be anything but that.
The first ever teaser trailer for the game was released yesterday at the Japanese festival Jump Festa. At the event, the franchise held a panel dedicated to its video games, including the upcoming One Piece title. Moetron managed to snip the livestream’s clip of the trailer.
In the teaser everyone’s favorite elastic pirate Monkey D. Luffy can be seen roaming about the world, stretching to the tops of trees to navigate it faster, as well as fighting enemies with well-known attacks from the show.

Outside of the teaser, there is no information about One Piece: World Seeker or its plot, other than it will be dropping next year. Bandai Namco Entertainment American Brand Manager Randy Le had the following to say about the announcement.
“2017 marks the 20th anniversary of One Piece, one of the world’s most popular manga and anime series which has riveted millions of fans since it started. We’re proud to help usher in a new era with One Piece: World Seeker, an ambitious new entry in the legendary series,” said Le. “With an expansive open world and story, Luffy will travel through a huge variety of locales in a new adventure that’s as vast as the seven seas.”
One Piece: World Seeker will see Bandai Namco team up with Shueisha in order to bring the Straw Hat Pirate to platforms at some point in the near future.
