Fans are excited after learning that original stars Hilarie Burton Morgan and Sophia Bush are not only reprise their roles, but are also producing the series. The show is in the early stages of development, but is already creating buzz online.
Deadline reports that Hilarie Burton Morgan and Sophia Bush will return to the One Tree Hill sequel series as Peyton Sawyer Scott and Brooke Davis Baker. In addition, former OTH star Daneel Ackles and her husband, Supernatural star Jensen Ackles, will also serve as producers on the series.
It is currently unknown if other actors such as Bethany Joy Lenz, James Lafferty, Chad Michael Murray, and others will return for the new series. Of course, fans would likely love to see the entire Tree Hill gang return in some capacity. Meanwhile, Murray is reportedly unlikely to be part of the show. However, talks with the original cast members are said to be in the preliminary stages.
One Tree Hill Returning with Sequel Series at Netflix
The sequel series is reportedly set 20 years after the series finale, and will feature Brooke and Peyton as best friends who are dealing with their own teenagers. The show will tackle teen issues like love, grief, and more.
If the show makes it to production, it will follow other big sequel series such as Fuller House and Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life. Meanwhile, fans are over the moon about the news, as they can’t wait to see their favorite characters again.
